Tampere Supercross Returns Under New Promotion

Tampere Supercross is back. After a three-year absence, Finland’s premier indoor Supercross event will return to the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre on November 10–11, 2023, alongside the popular Offroad Expo.

The event was unable to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2022 edition was also cancelled while previous promoter Gravel Sports searched for a new owner to carry the event forward.

That search has now come to a successful conclusion, with JH Events Ltd. taking over as the new promoter of Tampere Supercross & Offroad Expo.

A New Promoter, the Same Passion

JH Events founder Jani Hovi says bringing Tampere Supercross back was an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass up.

“I’ve attended the event every year and seen firsthand what it means to the motocross community. It has become the traditional season-ending celebration, bringing riders, teams and fans together under one roof. We’ve witnessed incredible racing over the years, and Offroad Expo has grown into an outstanding exhibition as well.”

“It would have been a huge loss if the event had disappeared altogether. That’s why it was so important to find a new promoter and continue building on everything that has been created.”

Building on a Proven Formula

While some updates and fresh ideas are planned for the future, Hovi emphasizes that the foundation of the event will remain unchanged.

“Gravel Sports did an outstanding job developing Tampere Supercross, and from the very beginning it was clear to me that their experience and expertise needed to remain part of the event.”

Fortunately, the event’s former promoter and executive producer, Jarkko Nieminen, and Ari Kuusela, who was responsible for security, will continue working with the organization in key roles.

The Tampere Motocross Club will once again serve as the organizing club, while Jussi Nikkilä returns as track designer. Several longtime members of the organizing team will also continue in their familiar roles.

“Without these people, organizing Tampere Supercross simply wouldn’t be possible. Their experience ensures the event remains in very capable hands.”

Nieminen Remains Part of the Event

The transition has also been warmly welcomed by Gravel Sports.

Having been involved with Tampere Supercross since the very beginning, Jarkko Nieminen, the visionary behind the event and the driving force behind its development, is pleased to see it continue under new ownership.

“I wanted the new owner to be someone who is genuinely passionate about the event and committed to making every decision with the event’s long-term future in mind. I truly believe that’s exactly what will happen.”

“Personally, I’m also happy that I’ll still be involved and able to contribute to the event going forward.”
