Tampere Supercross Leads the Way Again – The World’s Cleanest Motocross Race Comes to Finland
Tampere Supercross continues to push the boundaries of innovation. This November, the event will make motorsports history by hosting the world’s first all-electric mini motocross race inside a Supercross event.
For the first time ever, an entire race class will compete exclusively on electric motocross motorcycles, as young riders line up on the brand-new KTM SX-E 5 and Husqvarna EE 5 electric mini bikes.
A Pioneer in Sustainable Supercross
Held at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre on November 8–9, Tampere Supercross has long been recognized as an innovator in environmentally conscious racing.
The event was already the first Supercross competition in the world to require the use of low-emission alkylate fuel in all race motorcycles, significantly improving indoor air quality while reducing emissions for both spectators and competitors.
Now, in its eighth edition, Tampere Supercross is taking another major step toward sustainable motorsports by introducing a race class that produces zero exhaust emissions.
Young riders will compete on a full-size Supercross track aboard KTM’s and Husqvarna’s latest generation of electric mini motocross machines.
“The KTM Group is bringing together the strengths of both brands by introducing these exciting new models to the race track. These zero-emission, virtually silent electric mini motocross bikes represent the future of our sport, and there’s no better stage to showcase them than Tampere Supercross,” says Jaro Sihvonen, Managing Director of KTM Nordic Oy.
A World First for Electric Mini Motocross
Previous editions of Tampere Supercross have featured entertaining 50cc mini motocross exhibition races during intermissions.
This year, those exhibition races will be replaced by demonstrations featuring the KTM SX-E 5 and Husqvarna EE 5electric mini motocross bikes.
It marks the first time anywhere in the world that these newly released electric mini motocross motorcycles will compete indoors on a purpose-built Supercross track.
The Future Starts Here
“Environmental responsibility is becoming increasingly important in motorcycle sport as well. Many of today’s young riders may never race with traditional combustion engines at all. Electric power is the future, and Tampere Supercross is proud to be leading the way toward a more sustainable future for motocross,” says Marko Vihriä, Press Officer of Tampere Supercross.
Designed for children as young as three years old, the KTM SX-E 5 and Husqvarna EE 5 deliver performance comparable to today’s petrol-powered 50cc mini motocross bikes while requiring minimal maintenance.
Both models feature six selectable power modes and a fully adjustable seat height, allowing the motorcycles to grow with the rider as their skills develop.
